IMAP Integration Guide

Easily connect your email with Scout to manage automated engagements. Follow these simple steps based on your email provider.

Steps for All Email Providers

  1. Enable IMAP Access – Your IT admin may need to do this for you if currently disabled. Check your email settings and turn on IMAP.
  2. Create an App Password – If your email account has extra security (like two-factor authentication), you’ll need to create a special password for Scout.
  3. Enter Your Email Details in Scout – Fill in your email, password, and server details in Scout’s “Connect Email” form.

Email Provider-Specific Instructions

Google Workspace / Gmail

  1. Enable IMAP (by IT Admin):
    • For Google Workspace: If currently disabled, admin enables IMAP in Google Admin Console.
      • Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > User settings.
      • Under POP and IMAP access, check “Enable IMAP”.
    • For Gmail: Turn on IMAP in Gmail Settings.
      • Click on the gear icon → See all settings.
      • Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
      • Enable IMAP Access.
  2. Create an App Password:
    • Turn on 2-Step Verification if not set up.
    • Go to Google Account settingsSecurity > App Passwords.
    • Enter “Scout” and generate an app password
    • Copy and store the password securely (you will not be able to view it again. In case you lose this password, you may delete the current one and repeat the step to generate a new app password for “Scout”).
  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your email address.
    • Password: App password created in the previous step
    • IMAP Server: imap.gmail.com
    • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.

Outlook / Office 365

  1. Enable IMAP:
    • For Outlook.com: IMAP is enabled by default.
    • For Office 365: Admin enables it in Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
      • Navigate to Settings > Org Settings > Modern Authentication.
      • Enable “Modern Authentication”.

  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your Outlook/Office 365 email.
    • Password: App password.
    • IMAP Server: outlook.office365.com
    • SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.

Yahoo Mail

  1. Enable IMAP:
    • Go to Yahoo Mail settings.
    • Click Mailboxes → Select your email account.
    • Scroll to Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere and enable IMAP.
  2. Create an App Password:
    • Go to Yahoo Security Settings.
    • Click Generate and manage app passwords.
    • Select “Other App”, enter “Scout”, and generate a password.
  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your Yahoo email.
    • Password: App password.
    • IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.

iCloud Mail

  1. Enable IMAP:
    • Go to iCloud Mail settings.
    • Click on the gear icon → Preferences.
    • Under Accounts, select your email and ensure IMAP is enabled.
  2. Create an App Password:
    • Go to Apple ID Security Settings.
    • Click Generate Password under “App-Specific Passwords”.
    • Enter “Scout” and generate a password.
  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your iCloud email.
    • Password: App password.
    • IMAP Server: imap.mail.me.com
    • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.

Zoho Mail

  1. Enable IMAP:
    • Go to Zoho Mail settings.
    • Click Mail Accounts → Select your email.
    • Under Protocol Settings, enable “IMAP Access”.

  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your Zoho email.
    • Password: App password.
    • IMAP Server: imap.zoho.com
    • SMTP Server: smtp.zoho.com
    • SMTP Port: 587
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.

Other Email Providers

  1. Enable IMAP:
    • Check your email provider’s settings and turn on IMAP.
  2. Create an App Password (if required):
    • Some providers require this for third-party apps.
  3. Enter in Scout:
    • Email: Your email address.
    • Password: App password (if required).
    • IMAP Server: Provided by your email provider (e.g., imap.example.com).
    • SMTP Server: Provided by your email provider (e.g., smtp.example.com).
    • SMTP Port: 587 (or as provided by your email provider).
    • Click “Test Connection” and then “Save” if successful.
