Profile Enrichment fills in a candidate’s missing email addresses and phone numbers from an external data provider, with one click from the candidate profile.
Before you start
- You need access to the candidate profile. Scout only shows the button when the candidate is missing an email address or a phone number.
- Without any setup, your organization uses Scout Enrich: 25 free credits per organization each month.
- If you want to use your own provider account, you need either an Apollo account (an Apollo admin must enable OAuth for your Apollo organization) or a ContactOut API key. Only one provider can be connected at a time, and the connection applies to everyone in your organization.
- While Apollo or ContactOut is connected, Scout Enrich credits are not used.
- The same Enrich Profile button also appears on saved Business Development contacts that are missing an email or phone. See Contact.
Steps
CHECK your Scout Enrich credits
- Click your name and email at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Settings.
- Open Settings > Integrations and scroll to the Data Enrichment section (“Connect enrichment providers used to complete candidate contact data”).
- On the Scout Enrich card (“Reveal missing candidate emails and phone numbers”) read the counter, for example 25 left and the reset date. The credits reset at the start of each month. When the credits are gone, the counter turns red and shows Used up.
REQUEST more Scout Enrich credits
- On the Scout Enrich card, click Request additional reveals.
- Scout sends your request, with your name, email, organization and remaining credits, to Scout support and shows “Credit request sent to Scout support.”
CONNECT Apollo
- Ask an Apollo admin to enable OAuth for your Apollo organization.
- In Settings > Integrations > Data Enrichment, click Connect on the Apollo card.
- In the Connect Apollo dialog, click Continue to Apollo and sign in to Apollo.
- Approve Scout’s access. Apollo sends you back to Scout and the card shows Linked.
To reauthorize later, click Reconnect. To disconnect, click the unlink icon on the card.
CONNECT ContactOut
- Request API access from ContactOut. A ContactOut subscription alone may not include API access.
- In Settings > Integrations > Data Enrichment, click Connect on the ContactOut card.
- In the Connect ContactOut dialog, paste your key into ContactOut API key and click Connect ContactOut. Scout stores the key privately and never shows it again.
To replace the key later, click Update key and then Save API key. To disconnect, click the unlink icon on the card.
Treat the ContactOut API key like a password. Enter it only in the ContactOut API key field in Scout, never share it in chat or email, and keep it in a password manager. If it is exposed or a colleague who knew it leaves, revoke it in ContactOut and enter a new one.
If the other provider is already linked, the Connect button is disabled and the card tells you to disconnect Apollo (or ContactOut) first.
ENRICH a candidate profile
- Open a candidate profile, for example from Talent Map or a project.
- In the profile header, click Enrich Profile. If Apollo or ContactOut is connected, the button reads Enrich Profile with Apollo or Enrich Profile with ContactOut.
- Hover over the button to see which source it will use: “Uses Scout Enrich credits.” or “Uses Apollo. Scout credits will not be used.”
- Wait for the spinner to finish. Scout shows “Contact details revealed.” when something was found.
What you should see
- New email addresses and phone numbers appear on the candidate profile.
- A note is added to the candidate’s notes listing the emails and phones that were found (or “none”).
- The remaining Scout Enrich credits on the Scout Enrich card go down by one when Scout Enrich was used.
- If nothing was found, Scout shows “Apollo did not find contact details for this person.” (or ContactOut / Scout Enrich instead of Apollo).
- Enriching the same candidate again shortly afterwards may reuse the earlier result instead of running a new lookup.
Common problems
- The Enrich Profile button is missing. The candidate already has both an email and a phone number, so there is nothing to reveal.
- The button is greyed out with “No Scout credits left.” Your organization used all 25 monthly Scout Enrich credits and no provider is connected. Connect Apollo or ContactOut (use the Connect Apollo or ContactOut link beside the button), wait for the monthly reset, or click Request additional reveals in Settings.
- I cannot connect ContactOut because Apollo is linked (or the other way round). Disconnect the connected provider first. Only one can be active.
- Apollo cannot be connected. An Apollo admin must enable OAuth for your Apollo organization before you click Continue to Apollo.
- The error “could not reveal contact details”. The provider call failed. Try again in a moment. If it persists, contact Scout Support.
Pro Sourcing Tip
Check your Scout Enrich counter before a big sourcing session. If you enrich more than 25 profiles a month, connect your own Apollo or ContactOut account so you are not limited by Scout’s free credits.
