Scout Select is Scout’s separate assessment product, at select.getscout.ai, that runs AI-powered interviews and proctored skill certifications and sends the results back to the candidate’s Scout profile.
Before you start
- Scout Select has its own sign-in at select.getscout.ai. Scout connects to it from Settings > Integrations.
- Scout Select is available on request. If the card shows Locked with the message “Scout Select isn’t enabled for your organization yet”, ask your Scout admin or Scout Support.
- Until Scout Select is connected, the invite actions on the candidate profile are greyed out with the tooltip “Connect Scout Select in Settings > Integrations to enable this”.
- AI interview invites are sent for a candidate who has been added to a job. Without a job, the Invite to AI Interview button on the profile tab shows “Add this candidate to a job first”.
What Scout Select offers
These capabilities come from the Scout Select product updates in the changelog:
- AI voice interviews (2026-04-20). Real-time voice interviews with avatars, multi-language support and dynamic follow-up questions. Difficulty adapts to the candidate’s answers. Built-in environments cover live coding (20+ languages), SQL tasks, financial modeling and system architecture boards. Reports include transcripts, voice analysis, role-specific rubrics and competency scores, and “Skill Snapshots”.
- Decisions, notes and custom fields (2026-04-23). Record each interview outcome as Unsatisfactory, Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations. The decision is logged in the candidate notes for a clear audit trail. Admins can define custom fields and show them in the candidate table.
- Assessment versioning (2026-05-04). Edit an interview after it has launched. Scout Select keeps versions (v1, v2 and so on). Candidates added after an edit get the latest version. Candidates already invited keep the version they were given.
- AI plagiarism and integrity signals (2026-05-05). Reports flag responses that look AI-assisted (for example copy-paste or AI-assisted typing patterns). Scout Select also logs window focus changes, can monitor on-screen attention when the camera is on, and can require full screen sharing where that option is enabled.
- Developers API (2026-05-11). Create and manage API keys, try endpoints in a built-in test console, and use the API to search candidates and assessments, create candidate records and assign interviews.
- Skill certifications. Proctored, timed skill exams. Scout lets you invite a candidate by choosing a Skill and Level.
The features above are managed inside Scout Select itself. This page covers the Scout side.
Steps
CONNECT Scout Select to Scout
- Click your name and email at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Settings.
- In Settings > Integrations, scroll to Assessments and find the Scout Select card (“AI-powered interviews and proctored skill certifications, with results synced back to the candidate’s profile”).
- Click Connect. The Connect Scout Select dialog asks you to choose:
- Create a Scout Select organization (recommended) - Scout creates a new Scout Select organization for this Scout account.
- Connect an existing organization - use an organization you already set up in Scout Select. Enter the Organization name, Developer API key and Webhook signing secret from Scout Select developer settings, then click Connect organization. These values give access to your Scout Select data: enter them only in this dialog, never share them in chat or email, store them in a password manager, and rotate them in Scout Select if they may have been exposed or when someone with access leaves.
- The card shows Connected and “Connected to” your organization name.
To switch organization, click Change organization. To disconnect, click the unlink icon and confirm Disconnect. Recruiters can no longer send invites until you reconnect.
INVITE a candidate to an AI interview
- Open the candidate profile.
- Open the Assessments menu in the profile actions and click Invite to AI Interview.
- In the Invite (candidate name) to an AI Interview dialog, if the job has no AI interview yet, use the Link existing tab and click Link AI interview, or use the Create new tab and click Open Scout Select wizard to build one (you return to Scout afterwards and it is linked automatically).
- Click Send invite. The candidate is emailed a link to complete the AI interview.
INVITE a candidate to a skill certification
- Open the candidate profile, open the Assessments menu and click Invite to AI Powered Skill Certification.
- Choose a Skill and a Level (each level shows its duration in minutes).
- Click Send invite. The candidate is emailed a link to a proctored, timed skill exam.
INVITE a candidate from a project board
You can send the same invites without opening the profile. Start from the job’s board.
- Open the project or job board (Sidebar > Projects or Sidebar > Jobs) and find the candidate’s card.
- Open More actions on the card, then Assessments.
- Click Invite to AI Interview or Invite to AI Powered Skill Certification. The same invite dialogs open as on the profile.
- Click Send invite.
Notes:
- Invite to AI Interview only appears on a Scout job board. It is not shown on a plain project.
- If Scout Select is not connected, both actions are greyed out with the tooltip “Connect Scout Select in Settings > Integrations to enable this”.
- To link one AI interview to the whole job first, open the three-dot menu on the job and click Create AI interview. The Create AI Interview dialog says “Candidates invited to this job will be sent the linked AI interview.” Once linked, the menu item reads “AI interview: (job title)”. It is greyed out until Scout Select is connected.
VIEW results
- Open the Interviews & Certifications tab on the candidate profile. It shows the invite status for each AI interview and certification, “Awaiting results” until results arrive, and a “Report ready” note when the report is available.
- Use the refresh icon (Refresh interview status) on an AI interview to update its status.
What you should see
- After connecting, Settings > Integrations > Assessments > Scout Select shows Connected.
- The two Assessments actions on the candidate profile become clickable.
- After sending, a confirmation such as “AI interview invite sent to (name).” appears and the invite is listed on the Interviews & Certifications tab.
Common problems
- The card says Locked. Scout Select is not enabled for your organization. Available on request. Ask your Scout admin or Scout Support.
- The invite actions are greyed out. Scout Select is not connected. Connect it in Settings > Integrations.
- The AI Interview button says to add the candidate to a job first. Add the candidate to a job, then invite from that job’s context.
- “Scout Select could not verify those credentials.” Check the organization name, Developer API key and Webhook signing secret and try again.
- The Interviews & Certifications tab is missing. The tab is available on request or on supported plans. Ask your Scout admin or Scout Support. See also Scheduled Interviews.
